Seeing Underwater, from Above

Bathymetry from Multispectral Imagery is a revolutionary technology that estimates sea depth by analyzing sunlight reflected from the seabed and captured by aerial or satellite sensors. Forget expensive and slow oceanographic surveys: we can now map vast coastal areas quickly and safely.

Fast and Efficient

Acquire bathymetric data for large areas in a fraction of the time required by traditional methods.

Cost-Effective

Eliminate the need for ships, crews, and complex logistics, drastically reducing costs.

Safe and Accessible

Map remote or hazardous areas for navigation without any risk to personnel and equipment.

State-of-the-Art Techniques and Models

Our service is based on scientifically validated algorithms that transform raw satellite data into accurate depth maps. Depending on water conditions and seabed type, we use different approaches. Some models require in-situ data points for calibration.

Empirical Models

These models, like Stumpf et al. (2003) and Lyzenga (1978), use ratios between different spectral bands (e.g., blue and green) to derive depth. They are robust, fast, and ideal for clear waters with homogeneous seabeds.

Semi-Analytical Models

More complex approaches, like the Lee et al. (1999) model, which model the path of light through the water column. They consider the optical properties of the water and are better suited for variable conditions and more complex waters.

SkyBathy Lyzenga-Like Model

It's a model based on Lyzenga's, but instead of fixing Kd, Rb, and R∞ beforehand, it estimates them from the data.

XGBoost Model

The scalable tree boosting system by Tianqi Chen. It effectively captures complex, non-linear relationships between spectral data and depth, often outperforming traditional regressions.
